About Me

 About me

This is me, Julie

I have been sewing since I was a young girl with my mum. I started with cross stitch projects and moved on to making skirts and dresses, including wedding dresses, bridesmaid’s outfits and waistcoats.

I discovered patchwork looking through my mum's many craft books and started an English paper piecing project of red and white diamonds.

In 2004 I joined my local quilt group at Aldington and a few years later I am Chair of the group, setting projects, going on trips to quilt shows and enjoying the wonderful creations the group with its many talents produce.

I have a full time job working in a shop repairing and creating items. I enjoy my job but I LOVE sewing and creating patchwork designs. I love the feel of fabric, I love the endless possibilities and I love putting colours together. I can often be found at my machine gone midnight where the bug to "just put this together" before bed is often the case.

I am also a fabric collector – fabrics that I adore and must add to my stash which will only be used for that special project.

What Can I Do For You??

I can make an item to perfectly match with your theme. Thomas the tank engine, for the boy who loves trains and happens to be called Thomas or the perfect bed quilt to go with a colour scheme that you can't find anywhere. The possibilities are endless. With a conversation and a bit of time you shall have your own quilt.

This is a bordered squares and flying geese single bed quilt.

How it works.

Give me a call or send me a message with the sort of size your looking for and a theme or colour scheme. We can look at styles and your ideas and create a bespoke design.  If you wish you can come shopping with me to choose your own fabrics.

This is a churn dash block with roses, green and burgundy accent fabric to match the tones in the roses and a simple patterned white fabric for the background. Border is in coordinating colours . Its approx. 42" square

Memory Quilts & Cushions

Memory quilts are a great way to reuse the cherished clothes and keep memories alive.  Baby clothes sitting in a box in the loft can be turned into a blanket that can be used and cherished in a new way. I can also turn other shirts and clothes into quilts or cushions. See my gallery page for more ideas.

This quilt was made up of approx 15 baby grows and a cot blanket. I bordered the blanket and made the baby grows to fit. A simple back of fleece or cotton is also possible.
